Price: The Part-Time office plan starts at $450 per month. A Hot Desk pass costs $35 per day and a Day Office costs $20 per hour or $75 per day.   

Atmosphere: Lucid Private Offices offers a professional, energizing place to get work done.

Benefits: Lucid Private Offices offers several flexible options for the different needs remote workers might have depending on their situations. Lucid’s offices feature receptionist and mail handling services, executive style common areas, and hospitality style service. 24/7 access to a full-time Private Office enables unconventional work hours if your client base or team is spread across time zones. A Lucid membership includes access to three locations in Houston and over 30 other locations across the Southern United States, so members have a place to get work done or meet with clients in a private, professional environment in Class A office space, even when they are not at their local office.  

Challenges: Networking does not happen organically if you stay inside a private office all the time, so members looking to make professional connections have to take advantage of lounges and networking events. Because of the elevated experience, renting office space from Lucid will be more expensive than working from home or from a coffee shop. While full-time office members can customize their office spaces, Part-Time office holders do not have as much flexibility with branding and personalization.

Challenges: There are only two locations, so you will be on your own if you need a workspace while traveling. You pay for the amenities whether you use them or not, so if you just want a place to work you might choose somewhere with fewer frills.  

Ideal for: Law and accounting firms, financial professionals, consultants, corporate teams, client facing professionals.  

Not ideal for: Creative agencies, tech startups, content creators or media companies looking for inspiring spaces. 

3) The Cannon at Post Oak: 

Offerings: The Flexible membership offers 24/7 access, a mailing address, and conference room access. The Resident Membership offers all the same plus a dedicated desk. The Enterprise Membership offers the same benefits as the Flexible Membership but comes with a furnished office space.  

Price: The Flexible Membership costs $180 per month. The Resident Membership costs $400 per month. The Enterprose Membership starts at $930 per month.  

Atmosphere: The Cannon at Post Oak offers an energetic, collaborative, entrepreneurial atmosphere.  

Benefits: The Cannon at Post Oak has very inexpensive memberships. Parking for The Cannon at Post Oak is included in the membership. There is an onsite full-use kitchen for members. A membership at the Cannon is a flexible month-to-month contract and offers access to locations throughout Houston. The community tends to be entrepreneurial, so it is a great place to network for startups. 

Challenges: The Cannon offers a less polished experience than more upscale coworking options like Lucid Private Offices or Common Desk, so professionals have to decide if saving the money is worth that trade. The startup-focused networking might not be ideal for everyone. If you want privacy for client meetings 

Ideal for: Startup founders, freelancers, consultants, remote employees, small business owners, sales professionals, venture backed companies, and hybrid teams who need occasional office space.

Atmosphere: Switchyards provides your favorite parts of working out of a coffee shop, a college library, and a boutique hotel lobby. Members describe it as the ideal place for respectful professionals who want to separate work from home while maintaining productivity. While the club does not host networking events, some networking happens organically by working alongside other members.  

Benefits: Switchyards offers 24/7 access, an affordable membership, and locations around the United States. The membership plan is a straightforward, reasonable fee of $100-$129 per month. They compare it to a gym membership. Pay a monthly fee, get the key, and go whenever you want! 

Challenges: No professional mailing address. Dedicated parking is limited and can fill up early in the day, so you’ll personally have to plan accordingly, and any guests you have during the workday might struggle to find parking. They don’t offer dedicated desks or workspaces, which means you’ll have to transport your equipment and supplies to and from work whenever you want to get some work done. The website offers virtual tours, but Switchyards does not offer in person tours of their workspaces, so the only way to find out what you’re signing up for is to sign up! 

Ideal for: Remote employees, freelancers, solopreneurs, graduate students and researchers, professionals with hybrid schedules. Switchyards provides a casual environment away from home for quiet productivity. The 24/7 access is a great fit for anyone who works unconventional hours.  

Not ideal for: Large teams, private client meetings, frequent phone calls, dedicated office suites. Meeting rooms and phone booths are limited in number. If your job frequently demands something other than solo laptop work, a more traditional office space will offer you better support.  

5) Common Desk 

Offerings: Common Desk offers a Shared Desk membership, which includes 7am-10pm access to cafe style desks, elevated shared desks, and a cocktail lounge. This membership includes conference room credits and access to community events. The Team Pass is a combination of day passes and conference room hours that can be shared by teams of up to 10 between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday. A Private Office at Common Desk includes your own lockable, undecorated, customizable room that you have access to 7 days a week, 7am-10pm. A Private Office includes access to Shared Desk areas.  

Price: The Shared Desk membership costs $299 per month. The Team Pass costs $350 per month. A Private Office starts at $700 per month.  

Atmosphere: Common Desk boasts an “emphasis on real hospitality, eradicating workplace loneliness, and weekly events that nurture professional connections.” Their mission is to offer “people-centric, inclusive coworking space to professionals across industries.” Shared workspaces are active and energetic during peak hours, especially at busier locations.  

Benefits: Common Desk focuses on building community through networking events, member programming, and social events. The lease plans are flexible and can scale with your business.  

Challenges: Some find the busy workspace energizing, but some find it distracting. If you aren’t interested in the community-focused aspect, the Common Desk membership might not be worth the higher price. If you sometimes need privacy for client meetings, the Shared Desk option will be tricky at busy locations because there will be lots of demand for the meeting rooms. The Private Office membership offers a solution, but you will have to decide if you can justify paying the steep price of a full-time office based on how many meetings you have per month. No mailing address is included in a membership. The business address plan is a separate plan of $50 per month, and they do not offer mail handling.
