You’re searching for a private office. You search “best office space near me,” and you find yourself barraged by a list of qualifiers: best “all-inclusive” office; best “private office,” cheapest “hot-desking” option…and, unlike the average coworking marketer, you don’t know what any of these terms mean.

Luckily, we’re here to help. We pride ourselves on giving unbiased, authoritative definitions–consider this your go-to dictionary. And if you hear anything different, just remember that we told you first.

So, A-Z (if you can come up with a coworking term that starts with X, let us know), here you go: the Official Coworking Glossary – with a bit of Lucid Private Offices swagger.

All-Inclusive – A pricing model where the membership fee covers rent, utilities, janitorial services, internet, and sometimes basic amenities. Bullpen – A large, shared room for team members in which employees each have their own desk.

Community Manager – The magic that makes the office run. Believe me, you don’t appreciate them enough, and their job is to satisfy your needs and requests–furnishing and setting up your office, planning all of our community events, and putting out the day-to-day fires.

Coworking Space – A shared workspace in which businesses, teams, and individuals rent offices or desks. Coworking spaces tend to offer flexible lease agreements that come with a host of free amenities, including internet, networking and community events, janitorial services and more.

Customizable Workspaces – Offices you can make your own. Choose the size of office you need and the furniture that works best for you or your team.

Day Office – Access to a private office space for one business day.

Dedicated Desk – A membership that provides a permanent, assigned desk in a common area for your personal use. Lucid Private Offices does not offer dedicated desks.

Executive Suite – An all-inclusive, furnished private office leased out on flexible terms in a shared business space. All Lucid offices are executive suites.

Flexible Lease – A lease offering more flexibility than your traditional 12-month term. Lucid Private Offices offers 12-month, 6-month, and month-to-month term options. Plus, if you need to scale up or down mid-lease, we have you covered.

Flex Space – Workspaces offering customizable office solutions and flexible leases. Flex spaces give teams and businesses the freedom to have the space they need without the rigidity of traditional office leasing.

Hot Desk Pass – A membership that allows access to any available desk in the common area.

Meeting Room – Collaborative rooms with reservations available by the hour or by the day. Perfect for training sessions and team meetings.

Part-Time Office – A membership providing several days per week of private office use. The Lucid part-time office membership allows three days per week of private office use at any of our locations, in addition to unlimited hot desk access and a 25% meeting room discount.

Private Office – A fully furnished, all-inclusive, lockable office. Comes in a variety of sizes and furnishings, whether you’re an individual needing your own space or a small-to-medium team looking for a room to work in together.

Team Suite – A large office consisting of a bullpen and at least one additional enclosed office for directors, small meetings, or team members needing a private space. Best for teams 10+.

Traditional Office Space – The classic real estate model where teams & companies have to rent an entire building–or the entire floor of a building–from a landlord for a traditional 12+ month lease term. We are here to spare you from this. 

Turnkey Office – An office that is fully equipped, furnished, and ready for use. All of Lucid’s Private Offices are turnkey offices.

Virtual Office – Also known as a Virtual Business Address, a virtual office solidifies your business reputation with an official address and phone number. Add-ons include meeting room access, mail forwarding, and live call handling. With a Lucid Virtual Office, you also get 2 days per month of private office use and an address on Google My Business.
